Bearboat Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley, 2006

Bearboat harvests its premium grapes in California's prestigious Russian River Valley. This celebrated area in the northwest of Sonoma Country has a relatively cool climate that can be described as analogous to France's legendary Cote d'Or in Burgundy. In fact, the Russian River Valley has become renowned for wines made from the same grape that flourishes in this eastern French province: Pinot Noir. By employing a variety of techniques, our winemakers have created an outstanding wine that emulates the elegance found in the Vieux Monde yet retains the unique nuances of this distinctly American appellation. Bearboat Pinot Noir was aged for ten months in French oak and carefully fined before its release. While the color is a brilliant red reminiscent of black cherries, the nose offers hints of warm toast and cassis. Bearboat Pinot Noir has a mouth of fresh strawberries and raspberries while delicate suggestions of black licorice enhance the lingering finish. Bearboat Pinot Noir promises to be a exquisite addition to your table. 13.5% alc. by vol.
